Module 9: Dividing Fractions-Math 5B - Course Guide

Module Overview:

In this module, students will learn about using visual models and equations to solve real-world fraction multiplication problems, use equations to solve real-world fraction problems and explain in writing the process of how to solve real-world problems involving multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers. They will learn how to identify and represent unit fractions, use visual models to divide unit fractions by whole numbers and learn the relationship between multiplication and division with unit fractions. Students will learn about dividing whole numbers by unit fractions, find the reciprocals of fractions and whole numbers, divide a unit fraction by a whole number, solve word problems by dividing unit fractions by non-zero whole numbers, divide whole numbers by fractions, divide fractions using reciprocals, and divide fractions using common denominators.
