Module Overview:

In this module, students will learn about the phonogram "th." They will practice their sight words ( that, there, pretty) and "th" words with interactive activities. They will also read the weekly story and record an oral retell. Students will learn how to retell fiction and nonfiction stories. Students will practice their spelling words ( bath, path, math, with, that, think) and independent reading.

  • As your student reads “Do You Think That is Pretty?” ask them the following questions: What do the children find as they ran down the path? What did they see that was pretty? Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story and write about it using your sight words.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed
2 27.2 Phonogram Th
  • Use the sight word flashcards from this week daily with your student. Mix them up, show them the words and ask them to read the sight word. Next do not show them the word, but say the word and ask them to spell the word.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.

  • As your student practices writing sight words have them spell the words as they write each letter in the word and then read the word when they are done writing it.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
  • Have your student practice spelling their spelling words, say a word and have them spell it.

  • Today students will copy their final paragraph that they have put together over several weeks.
  • During Independent Reading time have your Kindergartner read the story they chose out loud so that you can hear errors and correct them if needed.
5 27.5 Phonogram Th Don’t forget to have your student complete their independent reading log and assignment and submit it at the Independent Reading Assignment lesson dropbox. You may have to help them fill it out. Remember to submit their work for the week in the Module 27 Weekly Written Work Phonics Th lesson dropbox.
