Module 34 - Math 1B - Course Guide

Module Overview:

In this module, students will recognize and name solid shapes and draw geometric shapes from a written description. Students will solve logic puzzles. Students will match numbers that are 1 apart and those that are 10 apart. Students will create tile designs using pattern blocks.

1 34.1 Recognizing Shapes Have your student identify different solid shapes around the house.
2 34.2 Drawing Shapes Have your student draw a picture using the shapes they learned to draw in this lesson in their Math notebook.
3 34.3 Logic Puzzles Look up logic puzzles for kids online and see if there are any websites or puzzles that can be printed out for your student to practice.
4 34.4 Matching Numbers Write a number down. Have your student add 10 to that number and state the new number. Then have your student subtract 10 from that number and state the new number. Next, have your student add 1 to the number and subtract 1 from the number. Repeat this with 5 other numbers.
5 34.5 Tile Designs Have your student play with pattern blocks to make different designs.

Module Guiding Questions:

When a student starts a lesson ask them questions to check for prior knowledge and understanding and to review concepts being taught. At the end of the lesson ask the questions again to see if their answer changes.
