Module 6: My Country-Social Studies 2 - Course Guide
Module Overview:
In this module, students will recognize American symbols, including the national flower, bird, animal, Capitol building, and flag, as well as the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They will differentiate between national landmarks (U.S. Capitol, White House, U.S. Supreme Court, and Statue of Liberty) and state landmarks. Students will also recite the Pledge of Allegiance and identify patriotic songs and holidays. Finally, students will research an American symbol and explain its meaning, research a cultural symbol and explain its importance to that culture, and create a unique symbol and explain its personal significance.
