Module 34: Bees and Pollination- Science 1B - Course Guide


Module Overview:

In this module, students will have an opportunity to examine bees safely outside of their window and will learn about bee habitats, colonies, life cycles and the different roles bees play in their community. They will also see the steps it takes for a bee to pollinate flowers, learn about other pollinators, and explain why pollinators are necessary.

Take some time to apply what your student is learning to the real world. Suggested outings are below.

1 Take your student to a beekeeper if you have one near you, and ask them to show how the bees make honey and how they work together in a colony. If you do not have a local beekeeper, you can visit a farm or farm stand and talk to the workers about the fruits they grow and the role of bees in pollination.
