Module 4: The Colonial Age-Social Studies 5 - Course Guide
Module Overview:
In this module, students will locate the Spanish, French, Dutch, Swedish, Virginia, and Plymouth colonies in North America on a map. They will describe the economic, political, and cultural elements of Spanish, French, Dutch, Swedish, Virginia, and Plymouth colonies in North America. They will analyze the impact of the interactions between Indigenous people of the area and European colonists and compare European colonies in North America. Students will Infer how geography impacted life in the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies and describe daily life in these colonies. They will infer how religion and diversity impacted the government of the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies and analyze the importance of town meetings and self-government in the New England colonies, and the economic industry of the Middle colonies. Students will explain how the economy of the Southern colonies depended on slavery and describe how laws made slavery a part of life in the Southern colonies.
